J - Jump - Go Ahead and Jump

Jump - Go Ahead and Jump

A classic song from the 80's that serves as inspiration for today's post.
Van Halen with Jump from 1983

Some of the lyrics in this iconic song:

"I get up, and nothin' gets me down"
"You got to roll with the punches and get to what's real"

Many times over the past few years there have been setbacks and negativity, but if I can use Van Halen's word "I get up, and nothin' gets me down; You got to roll with the punches and get to what's real". Don't let negativity and problems get you down, push through them, stand tall, be humble and focus on what is real. Real could be your family, your students or yourself. What is most important, and to keep the focus on this.

"Might as well jump
Might as well jump
Go ahead an' jump
Go ahead and jump"

Since starting teaching one of my philosophies was to try new things, jump into new endeavours and take risks. During 2014 I stepped this up a notch with agreeing to do many things that were out of my comfort zone, and ones that would challenge me intellectually and be very consuming. New opportunities just kept on coming the more i said Yes, and Jumped into them. From Teachmeets, Workshop presenting, Live Hangout sessions, Google Teacher Academy, @edutweetoz, Starting a GEG chapter, leading staff development with Tech Tools, running a PD session for another school, to being interviewed by one of my education superhero's, Vicki Davis.

"You say you don't know
You won't know until you begin"

You need to start somewhere, and I would encourage all educators to keep on trying new ideas, technology, keep on reading, start blogging, attend TeachMeets, join Twitter, connect with other educators. We all have so much to share and to learn from each other. You don't know what is out there until you begin.

Just Go Ahead and Jump..........

My Twitter Recommendations- Letter J
These educators have been part of my PLN for some time and it is fantastic to be able to connect with them, share ideas, be challenged and learn from one another. So many wonderful educators with this letter (my favourite one of the alphabet).
